Don't carry it on your back for extended periods. If you're engaging in prolonged exercise, it's best to avoid carrying your backpack for too long. Carrying it for extended periods is bad for your health. Try carrying it by hand every hour or two, then putting it on your back. This combination of rest and activity will significantly extend the life of your backpack.

Let your bag get some sunlight regularly. Don't keep it indoors all the time. Without sunlight, your bag may develop mold and unpleasant odors, which is very unpleasant to smell, especially since you'll be carrying it. So, take your beloved bag out for a sunbath every now and then.

Avoid excessive friction. Some wear and tear is inevitable during use. This doesn't mean you can't experience any wear and tear, but rather that you should minimize the damage caused by it. Avoid using your bag on surfaces with high friction or uneven surfaces. If you must use it on such surfaces, be extra careful and avoid direct contact with the surface unless absolutely necessary.
